Tasting Notes

Did you taste Turkish Macabeo wine from Asmadan? Macabeo, also known as Viura, has never grown in this region before. Asmadan tried an experiment by blending it with Narince in this wine.

It has a golden colour with green reflections. When I tasted the first sip, I enjoyed its character. Fennel, dried golden apple and micro-oxidised walnut aromas come from the tertiary layer and add a unique and attention-grabbing character to its aroma profile.

Quince, linden, butter, pineapple and apricot notes come from Narince. It has an oily texture, medium body and medium acidity, which give strength and confidence to the wine. According to its flavour range, it seems to be a great opportunity to push it to the foreground in wine and dine pairings.

Generally, I felt balanced acidity and alcohol on my palate. If the producer tries ageing it in oak barrels, it will gain more complexity. I would place it among high-segment alternatives.
